Seminars A8 and B8, Bridging Dance/Movement Therapy and Other Body Psychotherapies; Panel Discussion I and II, the following two panelists are added to the ones already listed in the brochure:
Scott Baum, PhD, ABPP, is a certified Bienergetic Therapist and a member of both the NY and International Faculties of Bioenergetic Analysis. He practices in New York City, and has had the privilege of teaching in the Creative Arts Therapy program at Pratt Institute a number of times
Marjorie L. Rand, PhD, DAPA, specializes in Integrative Body Psychotherapy (IBP) and Pre and Perinatal Psychology. she is in private practice and teaches Somatic Movement Meditation and Supported Yoga Therapy. A founding member of USABP, she has published many articles and co-authored three books.
Seminar D2, The Writer as Witness, the following panelist is added:
Barbara Holifield, a Jungian analyst in San Francisco, is an adjunct faculty member at the California Institute of Integral Studies and a teacher of Authentic Movement.
Seminar B4 is Bridge between Physical Educaiton for Children and Dance/Movment Therapy, presenter is Yukari Sakiyama
The presenter will give participants experiences of Japanese traditional or popular physical activities, focusing on communication. she tries to investigate a possiblity for promoting communication for preschool children with mild developmental disorders. Dance/movement therapy will be helpful for childcare workers and educators who struggle with such children in their daily work.

Becoming an Embodied Therapist: Accessing the Language Of the Body in Treatment

This all day seminar offers the opportunity for professionals to learn how to discover and trust their innate ability to "attend" empathically, respond authentically, and translate non-verbal experiences into cognitive insights. Experiential body/mind exercises based on dance/movement therapy principles will be used along with didactic presentation, to integrate a more embodied approach into traditional psychotherapy theory and practice. Participants will learn how embodied methods can be used to treat eating disorders, addiction and trauma, with speical focus on how to:
- Be more fully present and congruent
- Facilitate a somatic state of readiness
- Becomre a more embodied therapist
- Apply nonverbal concepts and techniques that deepen the process of expression and communication
- Utilize treatment techniques based on mind/body congruity to deal with entrenched body-image problems and other issues underlying treatment of eating disorders, addiction and trauma
- Define and understand the importance of developing a positive body image
- Track the process of therapy so as to not become lost in the experience of attending
